What is Family Weekend?
Family Weekend is a tradition that has existed at Texas A&M University since 1919. In the early 1900s when membership in the Corps of Cadets was mandatory, mothers often found themselves worrying about the welfare of their sons. A federation known as the Aggie Mother’s Club was formed by these mothers whose main goal was to help their sons through their difficult “fish” and underclassman years. Family Weekend is in April. Where do I stay during Football Games, Family Weekend, and other special weekends?
Most hotels hold a two night minimum with higher than normal rates for special weekends, game weekends, etc. Some choose to stay in Hearne, Caldwell or Navasota. Bed and Breakfasts are at times more reasonable. Places to stay in College Station and Bryan.
